Overview
An Taibhdhearc and Brú Theatre present Neill | Páidín. Inspired by Pádraic Ó Conaire’s seminal Scothscéalta collection of stories, the characters of Neill and Páidín Mháire are brought to life in a celebration of the vivid imagery and beautiful language of one of Galway’s most beloved writers.
A woman struggles to move on from a past betrayal; her moment for revenge draws near. A fisherman in the wrong place; when tragedy strikes the consequences are devastating.
Audiences are invited into the hearts and minds of two of Ó Conaire’s most compelling characters as love, revenge, regret and memory weave together in these two interlinked pieces performed in Irish with language access.

Brú Theatre and An Taibhdhearc have approached O’Conaire’s work with a delicate hand, keeping alive the music of his words in Irish while offsetting the dark themes with humour, deft acting and an intriguingly wonderful musical score.
Despite the sombre tone, director James Riordan interjects some humour here as he did so effectively in Neill;
